The river at Serre Chevalier : the Guisane

rafting map in Serre Chevalier valley

Whitewater activities such as rafting, airboat, canoraft or even hydrospeed at Serre Chevalier are practiced on the Guisane.

It is the river, known for its turquoise water fed by glaciers, which flows from the Col du Lautaret, ends its course in the Durance at the level of Briançon and which we can navigate for more than 18 kilometers from the town of Le Monêtier-les-Bains to the South of Briançon.

The embarkation and disembarkation areas distributed all along (Monetier-les-Bains, La Salle-les-alpes, Villeneuve, Chantemerle, Saint Chaffrey, Briançon), allow us to offer you courses of different levels suitable for families and children or people looking for whitewater sensations.

Frequently asked questions about rafting in Serre Chevalier

Do you want to raft as a family with children between 7 and 16 years old?

Then you will opt for the Leisure course from Monetier-les-bains to Saint-Chaffrey .

This course is ideal for discovering the various whitewater activities such as rafting, kayaking, airboat, canoraft or even hydrospeed. This descent allows you to navigate safely and in a fun way because it does not exceed class 2-3 level.

This course is also for all those who want to spend a relaxing time on the river while discovering its landscapes and its environment.

Are you looking for thrills in rafting or cano-raft ? Do you want to surpass yourself  in a sporting activity ? Do you like adrenaline-fueled activities ?

Then you will choose the Rafting Sensation course on the Lower Guisane.

This class 4 whitewater course, between the village of Villeneuve and Briançon and accessible from 16 years old, will take you through the most beautiful rapids of the Serre Chevalier valley  and in a magnificent environment in the forest and mountains.

Do you want to explore the entire Serre Chevalier valley on the river? Would you like a longer and more sporty outing? Do you like the challenge?

Then you can choose the Integral Rafting course of Guisane, on approximately 18 kilometers of river, which will allow you to navigate in rafting or canoraft from the highest practicable point, the village of Le Casset, to the lowest point, Briançon .

It is in fact the combination of the Upper Guisane course (leisure and discovery) and the Lower Guisane course (sensation and sport) in a single descent.

Are you in group ? Are you organizing an EVG or an EVJF? Are you in a Seminar or in Team building?

Then the rafting is a great activity, both fun and playful but also sports and sensational.

This activity will allow groups to strengthen their ties and have a common experience during the descent on the river. It will take team spirit and coordination between all members of the crew to steer the boat in the rapids, some quite technical. This is why rafting is one of the best activities for groups of friends, colleagues, etc.

Who can Raft? When do rafting in Serre Chevalier?

Rafting in Serre Chevalier is practiced in spring, summer and again in early autumn.

In reality, it depends on the water levels of the river essentially because if they drop too much the river is no longer passable and this often happens when the melting of glaciers slows down in late September. However, other rivers near the station remain passable, such as the Durance.

It is an activity that adapts as much to children as to adults looking for thrills, adventure and a unique experience.

The only mandatory condition is to be able to swim at least 25 meters and be in good physical condition. This therefore places the minimum age for practicing the activity around 7 years because it is the average age around which children can swim.

Is Rafting accessible to people with disabilities?

Yes, the legislation allows us to accommodate people with disabilities provided that they are accompanied in the boat and that we put in place additional security elements such as the reduction of staff in the boat and special adapted equipment.

For a rafting trip suitable for people with disabilities, do not hesitate to contact us.
